History

The United Church of God, Florida is an outgrowth of the United Church of God, Inc. and the vision of Mother Ruth Lee.  In 1953 she walked the streets of Hollywood, FL longing for a place to worship.  After having many doors closed in her face, Mother Lee realized that the church was in her.  This realization led her to establishing a United Church of God in Florida.

Mother Lee's faith and hard work led to the establishment of churches such as Saint Barnabus, UCOG (Hollywood, 1954), Saint Andrews, UCOG (Fort Lauderdale, 1959), and Saint Ruth, UCOG (Miami, 1963).

Following the death of Mother Lee in 1968, the work of the Lord prospered under the leadership of the late Bishop G.W. Rice, Bishop O.C. Crone and the Union Director, Elder R.H. Hillman.

In the Florida District, Saint John, UCOG was born as GOD led Elder Frank Mobley to West Hollywood, FL.  Through the obedience to GOD, Elder Harvey Hall organized Saint Paul United Church of God in Hallandale, FL.  Both churches have since dissolved.

Presently, the United Church of God, Florida consists of True Deliverance (Pastor Philip Bass, Miami, FL), Greater Love (Pastor Jesse Roberts, Fort Lauderdale, FL), Lee Memorial (Pastor James Laramore, Hollywood, FL), Saint Barnabus (Pastor Lenzy Steele, Dania, FL), and Holy Tabernacle (Bishop Johnny Williams, Fort Lauderdale, FL) under the leadership of General Overseer Johnny L. Williams.
